(Philip Books)

Word of Leung - Rev. Ting Leung

Just as US President Donald Trump extended his “Social Distancing” guidelines till the end of April, we can expect the outbreak will not retreat for a short time (at least a month or two). If the pandemic is a battle, we have to dig in to prepare for a “long war”. We also know that behind the battle on earth is a spiritual battle. To overcome the outbreak, we must equip ourselves to do so according to the bible.  Are you prepared?

The bible Ephesians 6:10-12 said: “…  be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ” (NIV)

How can we make use of today’s “Shelter in Place” situation to put on God’s full armor? Crosspoint Church has given us some equipment for the battle according to the book of Ephesians.

The Bible — “take the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God” (v. 17)

Our daily bible reading exercise and spiritual sharing is intended to help you establish a regular habit of bible reading and spiritual practice at home. Hopefully when the outbreak is over, it will become part of your daily life.

The Prayer — “by the holy spirit in all prayer and supplication at all times” (v. 18)

To win the spiritual war, we must practice ourselves in prayer. Everyday our pastors lead you in daily prayer, walking with you in the battle of the pandemic and experience the answer of God amid the outbreak.

The Gospel — “and shod his feet with the gospel of peace” (v. 15)

Many people in the outbreak face a lot of anxiety, practical economic and material needs. Our gospel gives us not only peace, but also demands the action of outreach “walking”. To send a message of peace, care, and even the necessary supplies and help to those in need is the gospel action that every Crosspointer should take.

The Crosspoint Community — “pray for all saints” (v. 18)

Winning a war depends not on individual snipers, but the work of collaboration. In the army though soldiers have different functions, it is still the same army, watching and supporting each other. Continue to link up on the network in the pandemic situation, pray for one another, watch over one another, encourage together through difficulties, and experience victory together in this Pandemic war.

“… be strong in the Lord, in His mighty power.”  We are in a sure winning team because we have a great Lord to be our commander. Let us work together to build our faith stronger so that we can face greater challenges after the pandemic.

“Don’t ask for an easy life. Pray to be a stronger person.” (Philip Books)

“Tough times never last, tough people do!” (Robert Schuller)

Ting Y Leung

PRAYING FOR ONE ANOTHER

Dear Crosspointers,

In his prayer before being arrested (John 17), Jesus prayed for his glorification (v1), the protection of his disciples from the evil one (v15), the sanctification of his disciples by the truth (v17), and the complete unity among his disciples (v21).  Through his resurrection, Jesus was already glorified. Yet, we must continue to pray for protection, sanctification, and unity – especially in this week as our mind is set on Calvary. What Jesus prayed that night should be our prayer focus. These days, virus is often spoken as our enemy.  But Christians understand that our real enemy is the devil, who is father of lies (John 8:44) and strife (James 3:16). Let’s pray for the defeat of the Enemy!

Blessings,

Pastor Gideon Lee
