The two small copper coins

————————

Last Monday, I got an email from a church member telling me that she and her husband had to withdraw money from their 401K to handle their short-term financial hardship. What moved me most was their faithfulness to the Lord by giving their tithe through our online system, a more than $7,700 giving including convenience fee.

I want Crosspointers to know that our God indeed has been blessing our church and brothers and sisters in Christ in many ways. Yet it doesn’t mean that we do not have anyone who is under all kind of problems and hardship. In fact, we can tell by the overwhelming response of our brothers and sisters to the marriage and family workshops and seminars. The emotional classes taught by Dr. Kot and her
associates also were very well received. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are facing challenges from marriage, family, and life every day. I believe that some of these happenings are trials from God that He wants to put our faith and love to Him in test. I know that many of our brothers and sisters are waiting for God’s delivery and guidance. However, it is rare to see brothers and sisters who act like this couple who gave their tithe faithfully to the kingdom ministry even in such financial hardship.

I remember in Jesus’ time, there was a poor widow who put in two small copper coins. And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” (Luke 21:2-4)
