失喪的，我必尋找；被逐的，我必領回；受傷的，我必纏裹；有病的，我必醫治；只是肥的壯的，我必除滅，也要秉公牧養牠們。（以西結書 34:16 ）
This past week, two sisters in Christ came to visit us from New York. Even though we met for the very first time, we talked like longtime friends and were able to share our personal experiences. They came to Bay Area to look for a seminary and lodging for one of the sisters. This sister in Christ encountered God when she planned to end her life. She saw a light from a dark sky and heard the voice to stop what she planned to do. The voice also promised to heal her chronic pain and sleeplessness. She never read the Bible or attended any church but God revealed Himself to her in such a special way. After the incident, she felt to sleep and when she got up, her pain was gone. Since then, she was fully recovered.
My wife and I were encouraged by her testimony because her experience affirmed God’s grace even to people whom not even heard about the Gospel. He said: I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. (Romans 9:15)
Let’s continue to pray for our non-believing family and friends and don’t be discouraged. For the God we believed is a God of mercy and love. He does not want to see anyone perish but repent and goes back to Him. He always gives people multiple opportunities to do so like what He did to Israelites in the time of Judges. He will also take the initiative of calling people to rely on Him.
I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice. (Ezekiel 34:16)
