教會的 Shoe Drive 已進入第二週。我們已印製了彩色的傳單，讓大家可以拿著傳單邀請鄰居和同事一起參與。因要整理和包裝，收取教會以外捐增的鞋子的截止日期為十月卅日。
We’ve just entered the second week of our shore drive campaign. The church has prepared colorful flyers for you so that you can bring them to invite your neighbors and friends to join us. The deadline for collecting shoes from people outside the church is October 30.
The purpose of joining this shoe drive campaign is twofold. One is to encourage the whole church doing good work together and reaching out to our community. Another is to encourage each family to consider the campaign as a family activity. We encourage parents to bring their children knocking on your neighbors’ door or visiting your family and friends to invite them to join the campaign. Doing this will create opportunities to share the meaning of shoe drive and to discuss the biblical teaching on alms and helping the needy.
True devotion, the kind that is pure and faultless before God the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their difficulties and to keep the world from contaminating us. (James 1:27) CEV
Our Christian faith is not a bunch of noble doctrines and a hope for the future. Our faith emphasizes a lot in practice. Pure and faultless devotion does not come from outward appearance but actions and daily walk with the Lord. We can demonstrate Christ’s merciful heart by our acts of love. We can also refuse or stand against the negative influence of the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. Young people should learn from older folks on how to handle life issues while older folks should listen and try to understand what young people think and how they feel. Learning from one another will enable us to grow and become more like Christ.
It is my hope that Crosspointers across generations using different languages can gather together as a big family so that we can encourage one another and remind one another to grow, to worship, to serve and to witness as one body of Christ.
